Tiropitakia drizzled in honey – Feta-filled individual pies topped with sesame and honey

Dairy, feta, Greek, Vegetarian

These are simple to make and incredibly tasty individual cheese pies that take all the work out of their phylo brothers, perfect appetizers for any impromptu dinner guests. They have the luxurious butteriness of shortcrust pastry, contrasted with the sharp saltiness of feta, toasty nuttiness of the sesame, all off-set by the sweet aromatic honey kiss. You must give these a try!

Tiropitakia drizzled in honey

  • 340g shortcrust pastry dough (brought to room temp)
  • 400g feta crumbled
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 pinch oregano
  • 2 tbsp white sesame seeds

  1. Preheat oven to 375˚F or 170˚C
  2. Beat 1 egg, stir crumbled feta and oregano until well combined
  3. Roll out shortcrust pastry dough and cut into 16 even squares, scoop feta mixture evenly into each of the 16 squares (about 1.5 tbsp per portion). Fold dough into triangles, sealing the sides shut with a fork, with indentations.
  4. Beat 2nd egg with a 1/4 cup water and brush egg wash over the top of each to thoroughly cover, generously sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake for 25-30 mins, or until golden. Remove from the oven, transfer to a serving dish, drizzle with honey and eat immediately. If you are allergic to either sesame or honey, you can enjoy without with no major drawbacks.

P.s. if you want to enjoy later, freeze prior to applying egg wash and sesame seeds.
